We have cake with the imprint "It Belongs to Me" for all our staff. I also created an ICU Day quiz that was placed on the portal for all staff to take. We will announce the first 15 winners today. All winners will receive an ICU Day 6-pack cooler with "It Belongs to Me". Plus all staff received an ICU Day note pad with "It Belongs to Me".

We have used some ideas you have to offer. Thank you! In addition, we have a great activity planned. We will be opening the doors for our members in each branch and we will also be washing/cleaning our member's windshields. Our employees are very excited and I'm sure our members will be too!

Metrum Community Credit Union held a Guitar Hero Contest in their lobby. Any member that tried to play was put into a drawing to win $240 - the same amount that the average household saves when being a credit union member!

Staff training was held all month which focused on relationship building. When a staff person saw another employee building relationships, they gave the employee a U-ROCK (a real rock). Every week, they paid $1.00 cash for every U-ROCK received. The staff really seemed to have fun with it.

Dexstra Federal Credit Union Celebrated International Credit Union Day with a gas promotion by offering $1.99/gallon of regular gas to the community from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. The location was at the Gulf station on 1700 Marsh Road and was on a first come basis. Between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon there were 3,709 gallons of (regular) gas that was pumped at the promotional price of $1.99 gallon.

For Dexstra, ICU Day was a day of celebrating financial security and strength as well as the "people helping people" philosophy of credit unions world-wide; and an opportunity to give back to our community that is still feeling the pinch of high gas prices.

State Employees Credit Union kicked off International Credit Union Day by hosting a member appreciation cookout with Enterprise Car Sales for its many Jacksonville neighbors.

With an upcoming car sale on October 18, it was the perfect opportunity for SECU and Enterprise to celebrate International Credit Union Day and show our appreciation to our members for their continued support.

Over 100 members and potential members attended the event and enjoyed learning more about International Credit Union Day and this year's theme "My Credit Union…it belongs to me"!

Tropicana Federal Credit Union

We will celebrate festivities here in our office, with popcorn, candy, give-a-ways and our members will register to win an iPod. Our staff members will participate by going outside of the credit union with on-site setups at several business locations throughout the community, displaying our services, allowing the members to "Spin & Win" and receive prize(s). Staff participation is important, especially during International Credit Union Week.

We have members spin a wheel with four different countries on it. Whichever country they land on they get their name entered into a drawing for a gift card to that restaurant. Ex. Italy=Olive Garden, USA=Texas Road House, etc. We are also having a live action broadcast with a local radio station and are giving out free pizza at lunch.

MidWest America Federal Credit Union

MidWest America Federal Credit Union is concerned that members do not realize that their deposits are federally insured-- just like their bank counterparts. The media tends to overlook this in their discussion of the FDIC insurance increase. So, I decided to try to increase the awareness by using the NCUA's poster theme on a t-shirt. All staff and management of MidWest America wore the t-shirts. Media press releases were sent out and an FM station interviewed me, along with a local TV station. A business weekly publication interviewed our CEO too.

Last year we had a staff pumpkin carving contest. Members who voted were also entered into a drawing for a Visa gift card. The lobby was decorated for Halloween with webs, spiders, etc. We also had a youth coloring contest and gave away Halloween goody bags. The winners for the pumpkin carving contest and coloring contest were posted on the Web site. And we serve the usual refreshments such as coffee and Halloween themed cookies.

Livingston Parish Federal Credit Union

We will serve refreshments to our members on ICU Day. We also plan to give out small gifts and a grand prize that each member can register for when they visit our office on ICU Day.

Maryland

Destinations Credit Union

We usually have an open house - popcorn, snacks, soft drinks, balloons, and giveaways. The members seem to appreciate it.

Massachusetts

Digital Federal Credit Union

From a public relations point of view, we will be working with main-stream media (television, radio, print) to raise awareness of International Credit Union Day. This could include inviting media to our offices/branches and allowing members of the team to speak about Digital Federal Credit Union's history, culture, and the people that make up Digital Credit Union, along with a focus on the credit union's philosophy.

We hung the ICU Day 2008 posters on October 1 in all 10 of our branches to create awareness about the special day. Today, in each of the branches, we are celebrating International Credit Union Day with a member benefits table. We just rolled out our First Community Federal Credit Union Member Advantage Program, so this is being featured along with other credit union member benefits such as AAA, Sprint and RxOptical discounts. We are serving refreshments for the members and have an employee available at the table during certain times throughout the day to spread the word about ICU Day and all the benefits of being a member of our credit union!

Isabella Community Credit Union

Seminars on financial topics, shred-days, and of course, goodies for members are planned. Staff training will include an international food festival, PHD (Philosophy, History and Development) morning training with chances to spin the "BIG WHEEL!" to win ICU Day prizes.

In honor of International Credit Union Day, we had a hot dog grill from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the main office; our CEO was the cook. Many members came and chit-chatted with the CEO, employees, and board members. We decorated the lobbies and had apple cider and donuts at both locations. In addition, members enter a raffle for the chance to win a flat screen television and children entered a coloring contest for the chance to win craft sets based on three age groups

Northern United Federal Credit Union

On Thursday and Friday Northern United Federal Credit Union will be celebrating ICU Day with a luncheon featuring Chef Chris Rogers of "The Oaks". Chef Rogers will prepare roast turkey, rolls, salads, and dessert on Thursday. On Friday we've left Chef Rogers in charge of the menu. He is a fantastic chef and a great credit union member. It will be featured in front of the credit union and luncheon will be available from 11 am until 2 pm.

It's take our members to lunch day at Northern United Federal Credit Union!
