Prime Financial Credit Union made International CU Day a memorable one with its members. Young and old alike delighted in the appearance of our own Penny the Prime Piggy. Penny traveled along with Farmer Steve to 6 of 8 locations and handed out PFCU piggy banks, treats and took FREE pictures that were given to young and not-so-young members. Coloring pages, cookies and refreshments were made available for all members at 8 branches. The special event was advertised on the Web site, newsletter and lobby posters. Members were educated about International CU Day and why the special event is celebrated. A great time was had by all.

Thousands of Desert Schools Federal Credit Union members were treated to refreshments and a free car show in honor of International Credit Union Day. The festivities extended across the credit union’s 61 branch locations in three counties. We wanted to do something fun and different this year. Desert Schools FCU has a fleet of more than 30 Toyota Scions with custom wraps/graphics that really stand out. So we planned a Credit Union Car Show to let the public and the media know about the CU Difference. We also displayed CUNA's downloadable posters in all 61 of our branches with handouts that describe the CU Difference.

Our credit union celebrated with three different days for ICU Day so that we could offer Free Hot Dogs, Drinks and Document Shredding to our members at each office. Pictured are two members being served by our CEO John Sharp and CFO John Phillips. We also held a drawing at each branch for a Lycoming Mall Gift Card and a drawing for stuffed Halloween kittens for the kids.

All WCU branches offer refreshments and gifts to members that celebrate with us. We LOVE the special Credit Union Holiday and so do the members. Many come in just to visit and meet up with other members, former and currently seated Directors, and staff.

Since the NHCUL is the major contributor to the NH Make-A-Wish Foundation, wish children visited CUs around the State giving their thanks for the support. Here, wish-child Brendan, presents Woodlands CU VP of Operations Lucie Ramsey with a plate of scrumptious cookies he baked himself for the staff of the credit union.

The local Berlin Main Street Program held a scarecrow contest between Main Street businesses. Woodlands Credit Union jumped into the competition by incorporating this year’s Internationall CU Day theme, “Together We’re Better”. The four scarecrows are WCU members and community leaders, showing both that the Credit Union is better because we’re together, and so is the City of Berlin!

WCU holds an annual Essay contest and the 3 winners are announced on International CU Day. Here VP Lucie Ramsey presents member Amy Poirier with her 2nd place award of $500. This year’s essay theme was: “How Woodlands CU Saves Me Money.”

This year’s International Credit Union Day Celebration at WestStar Credit Union began with a $500 donation to Credit Unions for Kids, a Children’s Miracle Network affiliate, in support of this year’s theme, “Together We’re Better.” In addition to our community contribution, we gave away seven $50 prepaid gas cards to our members! Members were able to enter the random gas card drawing by completing entry forms in-branch and online throughout the week.

Children joined in the celebration, too, by entering our International Credit Union Day coloring contest! Artwork submitted was placed on display at each of our branches all week long. We selected our top six entries and the winners were awarded a $25 deposit to their Comet Kids Club Account – three of which were new to the WestStar family! Members and guests were encouraged to visit any of our branches to learn about our credit union and enjoy complimentary refreshments on International Credit Union Day, Oct. 18.

We even had a drawing for all of our employees! All employee names were entered in a random drawing to win one of five $25 Starbucks gift cards or one of five $50 gas cards. WestStar is committed to serving the Las Vegas and Reno Communities, our members, our employees and the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.” It truly was a fun day for everyone! We look forward to planning another International Credit Union Day celebration in 2008!

Throughout the day the credit union had refreshments and prizes at both locations. St. Vrain Valley CU also delivered over 50 special cookie packages to its SEGs/business partners. In the spirit of the ICU Day, the credit union will also host its 3rd Annual Legislator’s Reception on Thursday, October 25 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. for members and guests to meet state legislators such as Senator Brandon Shaffer, Representative Jack Pommer, Representative Paul Weissmann and Representative Glenn Vaad. GaPac CFCU started the week with a 3 hour live radio broadcast, and served free Papa Murphy’s pizza. Our 3rd community shred was the broadcast focus, along with offering $5 share accounts to new members, and a $50 US Savings Bond to the winner of our youth program drawing. Staff provided terrific radio interviews talking about the CU difference. Advertisement for the Community Shred was also in the local newspaper. The shred collected 5,100 pounds of confidential paper! To put these numbers into perspective, a residential off-site shredding pickup is $25 and we had approximately 200 contributors, saving the community $5,000 in shredding expense. In addition, every 770 pounds of paper recycled saves the environment a 100-foot-tall tree, along with saving people the possibility of identity theft.

For the first time we also collected computers parts (referred to as e-waste). We collected 35 monitors and 45 towers, and an assortment of peripherals. The computers were taken by a company that recycles used and broken computers, wipes them clean of all information, refurbishes if possible, and keeps them out of landfills. Everyone ended up a winner for our efforts! The finale for our International CU Week was on Friday with our 8th annual Hot Chili Day.

Both branches celebrated by having cookies, donut holes, and popcorn in the lobbies along with financial self help information, and Bios of the staff members. There was a drawing for a $50 US savings bond for all who completed an ICU Day Coloring Sheet and we took nominations for elderly and disabled members to have their lawns raked by CU staff. Raking will be done this coming weekend.

We had a spectacular day. The big posters were up, all the staff was wearing the Together We're Better shirts. We had popcorn and hot dogs, with all the works, for our members. Balloons were all over the office and outside, along with Together We're Better coloring pages and candy inside. We also offered free gifts to those who opened a new account or new service. We displayed the letter from the President of the United States in the lobby as well.
