Wanted: Googolplex Editorial Board Members

Googolplex is seeking responsible young people with diverse backgrounds for a paid position as a member of its youth editorial board. No travel is necessary—we welcome applicants from all over the country. Board membership requires a one-year commitment, and payment is based upon age level. Openings are available in three age brackets for the 2008-2009 school year: elementary school (grades 4-6), middle school (grades 7-8) and high school (grades 9-12).

For detailed information about the duties and pay rate for board members at each age level, or to request an application for a student you recommend or think might be interested, please contact Kelsey Balcaitis, Googolplex Board Liaison, at 800-356-9655, x4051, or at kbalcaitis@cuna.coop.

All requests for applications are due Monday April 7th. Completed applications are due Monday April 28th.

Feel free to forward this information to a teacher who might want to recommend a child.

The Secret Stash (All Levels)

Shiver me timbers! The most popular game in Googolplex history is back in this enhanced version of Stash Your Cash.

The object of the game hasn’t changed—purchase pirate booty while saving more than you spend. But hold on to yer doubloons ‘cause in this version of the game everything doubles—visit twice as many islands, shop twice as many merchants and purchase twice the booty.

Plus you’ll brave many new perils including sea monsters, sea sickness, and... pirate insurance agents? A mysterious voyage to Secret Island may contain your only hope… or your final curse…

The Secret Stash is featured at all three levels of Googolplex in different levels of difficulty:

  • New Voyage of the 5-Spot: hazards await ye—seasickness…sea monsters…sharks—when you take the Ghost Ship to Secret Island!
  • AJ's New Voyage: drop in on Davy Jones’ locker—you won’t come out the same!
  • New Voyage of the C-Note: sail the Ghost Ship to Secret Island and learn the true meaning of skullduggery!

To help you celebrate Youth Week, we’re making all three games available for the entire month of April.

Give youth print and online newsletters!
Every quarter we send you enough ready-to-print pages to create three full newsletters—one for elementary-school, middle-school, and high-school level readers. We provide newsletters in high resolution for print, and low resolution for e-mail or online viewing.

These lively newsletter pages give your young members previews of stories, activities and comics for the coming three months. Use them to direct young readers to your credit union web site, so they can see what’s new in 5-Spot, AJ's and C-Note.

IMPORTANT: You add your credit union logo and mailing information. You can print and distribute them, and also make them available as a link on your web site. Got that creative bug? Add your own stories, art, more pages, or customize in other ways - it’s up to you!

Here’s what you get:

  • Complete newsletter pages (in high resolution PDF and JPEG formats) for elementary through high school students. The newsletters feature comics, activities and teasers about stories and games for the coming three months.
  • All of those same newsletter pages in low-resolution PDF format for online and e-mail use.

Here’s how you get it:
To retrieve the ready-to-print, ready-to-view newsletter pages each quarter, log in to your Googolplex Set-up and Promotion page, select the pages you need, and download them free of charge.
